SCAR supports at present six main research programmes, the SCAR Antarctic Research Programmes:

- State of the Antarctic Ecosystem (AntEco)
- Antarctic Thresholds - Ecosystem Resilience and Adaptation (AnT-ERA)
- Antarctic Climate Change in the 21st Century (AntClim21)
- Past Antarctic Ice Sheet Dynamics (PAIS)
- Solid Earth Responses and influences on Cryospheric Evolution (SERCE)

Other projects

SCAR and Antarctic research are connected with different organizations and global international research programmes, contributing with information related to the Antarctic territory.
